Mint & Mintmaster Marks: |
Belgian mint marks are only used on the €2 commemorative
issues.
Only the €2 commemorative issues use the two mint marks.
One represents the mint, the other is a mintmaster mark or privy mark
representing the director of the Royal Mint of Belgium at the time of
mintage.
All €2 commemorative coins: Mintmark of the
Royal Mint of Belgium, the head of Archangel Gabriel with a cross on
top. |

These marks are usually located at the bottom
of the design, near the dividing edge between the two metalic
composites of the coin, with the mint mark on the left and the

- The design of the Belgian Euro coins will have to change at some
point in the future to comply with recent regulations made by the
European Central Bank, which states, in part, 'The national sides of all
denominations of the euro circulation coins should bear an indication of
the issuing Member State by means of the Member State’s name or an
abbreviation of it.'.
